1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Rock Egg (the "Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Rock Egg is an English-learning application that lets you create and study documents (by reading them or listening to a narration), vocabulary, and dictation; practice with automatically generated quizzes; check your English level with the Level Check; discuss a document with an AI tutor in a conversation; and ask free-form questions about the English language on the Ask page. Features may change, be added, or be removed at any time.

3. Your account

You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the Service.

4. AI-generated content, automated answer checking, and the Level Check

Quizzes, questions, answer checking, replies in document conversations, and answers on the Ask page (including their explanations, sentence formulas, and examples) are produced by artificial-intelligence systems, including third-party and self-hosted language models. This automatically generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or biased, and automated grading of your answers may be wrong.

AI-generated content is provided for educational practice only, on an "as is" basis, and is not a substitute for professional, academic, or authoritative guidance. You should independently verify anything important and should not rely on the Service's output as a definitive source. Rock Egg is not liable for decisions made in reliance on AI-generated content or automated grading.

The Ask page answers questions about the English language only, such as grammar, vocabulary, idioms, and pronunciation. Its answers are learning explanations, not professional translation, legal, medical, or other advice. The assistant may decline a question it considers unrelated to learning English.

The Level Check gives an automated estimate of your English level on the CEFR scale (A1–C2), based on a short set of questions. It is not an official exam result or certificate, it is not affiliated with or endorsed by any testing body (such as Cambridge English, IELTS, or the Council of Europe), and it may differ from the result of a formal assessment. Level Check questions are prepared in advance with the help of AI and reviewed before use, and your answers are scored automatically. Your result only replaces the level on your profile, which sets the difficulty of your daily vocabulary and quizzes, if you choose to save it.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the documents, text, questions, messages, and other material you submit to the Service ("Your Content"). You grant Rock Egg a non-exclusive license to store, process, and transmit Your Content as needed to operate the Service — including sending it to AI providers to generate questions, check answers, reply in conversations, and answer your questions on the Ask page. Your conversations and Ask sessions are saved to your account so you can return to them, until you delete them or your account. You represent that you have the rights to Your Content and that it does not infringe others' rights or violate any law.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or abusive purpose;
• Upload content that is illegal, infringing, or that you do not have the right to submit;
• Attempt to manipulate the AI features (for example, with instructions that try to override how they behave) to produce content unrelated to learning English or to get around usage limits;
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure; or
• Use the Service to build a competing product from our data.

7. Subscriptions

Rock Egg offers a free tier with 42 credits per week (most AI actions cost 1 credit; a Level Check costs 5) and a paid Pro plan that includes 2,000 credits per month. Pro is available as a 3-month subscription billed $26.97 every 3 months ($8.99/month) or a monthly subscription billed $11.99 every month. Subscriptions are billed through Lemon Squeezy and renew automatically for the same period until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; your plan will remain active until the end of the current billing period and then revert to the free tier. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, including for the unused part of a 3-month period.

8. How we calculate your usage

We only count the actions listed below. Most of them call our AI models; the Level Check is also counted. Reading and organising your documents, listening to narrations, dictation practice, saving words and phrases, and text-to-speech are never metered — they are available without limit on both tiers. The metered actions are:

• Generating a batch of questions from a document.
• Generating a document quiz.
• Generating a word quiz, including submitting your sentences for a daily vocabulary word.
• Asking a question in a document conversation (one question and its reply).
• Asking a question on the Ask page (one question and its answer), including a question the assistant declines as unrelated to English.
• Looking up dictionary details for a word or phrase that has not been looked up before.
• Translating text into Vietnamese for the first time.
• Starting a new Level Check (5 credits per test).

On the free tier, you get a weekly allowance of 42 credits shared across all metered actions, which resets every 7 days at 00:00 UTC (Monday). On the Pro tier, that allowance is replaced by 2,000 credits per month, likewise shared across all metered actions, which resets at the start of each calendar month (UTC). Dictionary details and translations are cached, so a given word or piece of text is only charged the first time anyone requests it.

You can start one Level Check every 7 days on either tier, counted from when you started your previous test, whether or not you finished it. You need at least 5 credits left to start one. Resuming a test you started in the last 24 hours is free. Credits are not returned for a Level Check you leave unfinished or that expires after 24 hours.

Each metered request uses 1 credit from the relevant allowance when it is made, except starting a Level Check, which uses 5 credits. If a request fails because of an error on our side, it is refunded and does not count; requests that you cancel or that complete successfully do count. We may adjust these limits over time, and any material change will be reflected on this page.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, including Lemon Squeezy (payments), email delivery providers, and AI providers. Your use of the Service may be subject to those parties' terms, and we are not responsible for their services.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rock Egg and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
